QueerCuts: Indigo Girls w/Tom Morello

So what happens when Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello teams up with legendary folksters the Indigo Girls? Probably one of my favorite songs of all time.

This remix of Shed Your Skin has been on my list of desert island songs since the moment I heard it years ago.

Here’s some of what Tom had to say about it from MTV News:

As Morello explained, he shares some similar political sentiments with the Girls, which first came to light on Rage’s “Radio Free L.A.” show last year when the Indigos called in to support Mexico’s Zapatista rebels.

“They used to come to the shows in Atlanta at a time when I was having a lot of difficulty lining up bands for the “Radio Free L.A.” show,” Morello told MTV News. “They volunteered to participate, and I thought that was really cool and I think from an ideological stand point we’re kind of on the same footing, so I was happy to do it. And it gave me the opportunity to play drums and bass and guitar on a track and human beatbox on a track which was really interesting.”
