Paisley Fields Warns “Stay Away From My Man”

By Denver-Rose Harmon, Staff Writer

Paisley Fields must have seen Loretta Lynn’s new album as a challenge because he just gave us the perfect, gay-as-hell update on the classic “You Ain’t Woman Enough”.

Fields’ music video for “Stay Away From My Man” wraps up an ode to the classic country legend with a queer bow. The camp is dialed up to 10 as he fends off his usually topless partner, played by adult film star Boomer Banks, from a masked bandit.

The video intentionally feels like 2 and a half minutes of exposition for a porno. But if all adult films started like this, I wouldn’t find myself pressing the fast forward button so much. The piano is boot-stomping’, the melody an ear worm, the fashion to die for. No one is left wanting for lace, fringe, or cowboy hats. “On the range we don’t get jealous, we get naked,” breathes the narrator.

My favorite moment among all the camp and scandal is the brief scene that closes out the song. Paisley dances in a see-through lace with Banks, who is completely buttoned up in a beautifully embroidered pearl snap. Paisley is dipped romantically and then places a hand on his partner’s chest. All the while they have the most genuine smiles on their faces and seem to be sharing a hilarious secret that their audience isn’t privy to. It’s a moment of pure queer joy that tops off a delightfully fun time.
