Queer Country Fights Fascism
Legendary queer country pioneer Patrick Haggerty has teamed up with sci-fi folk-punk balladeer Aaron J. Shay for what they’ve dubbed an “Antifascist Concert Series.” The series kicks off this Saturday, February 6th, with performances by Country Queer’s own Mya Byrne, Cher Guevara and (CQ alumna) Cindy Emch, along with OG country queer Blackberri and Shay himself.
Throughout February and March, a cross-continental lineup of singers, bands and poets from multiple genres, loaded with racial, sexual and gender diversity, will set the power of words and music against the looming threat of fascism.
Haggerty says, “Even though the primary fascists are out of power, we still need radical organizing and support to stop their fascist minions from taking it back. Artist inquiries are welcome if you want to join the show. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your quarantine pod, and let’s all get on board with the movement to fight fascism across the world!”
Join the movement, every Saturday at 3pm, starting February 6th, on Lavender Country’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
