Aaron Lee Tasjan Announces Album, Releases Single

Aaron Lee Tasjan, marked by his penchant for reanimating vintage sounds with modern color, has released a new single, “Up All Night,” and announced a new album, Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan!
“Up All Night” is equal parts pop sensibility and toothy rock’n’roll. Unashamedly queer and whimsical, he reflects on breaking up with his boyfriend to go out with his girlfriend because, simply, “Love is like that.”
We also got a sneak peek at Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan!, and were mightily impressed. With self-deprecating humor and idiosyncratic poetry, he weaves a delightful autobiography that explores sexuality, mental health, and his own contradictions.
Tasjan told us, “What makes me truly happy about this album is that in listening to it, I hear how hard I’ve fought to be OK. For the longest time, I had a very negative self-perception that made a lot of my life very painful. I hear the messages I’ve written to myself in these songs and it makes me feel emotional because they weren’t easy things to hear at first. But now they feel like home.”
The origins of the album are typical of Tasjan, who happily goes his own way. Sparked by the memory of an LSD-laced songwriting session, when he felt truly free, with equal parts uncertainty and recklessness, he hid from his label and covertly crafted Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan!, with co-producer Gregory Lattimer.
Tasjan! Tasjan! Tasjan! will be released February 5th via New West Records.
