Brandy Clark Brings You a Queer-Friendly Country Christmas

CQ All-Star Poll’s Artist of the Year Brandy Clark has a holiday special on the way. “Christmas from Here, There and Everywhere” premieres Tuesday December 22nd. Clark will be performing some of her favorite holiday classics as well as some original songs. The show will also feature performances from special guests including Melissa Etheridge, Shane McAnally, Ashley McBryde, Reyna Roberts, Charlie Worsham and Cam.

It’s great to see a number of openly LGBTQ+ artists and vocal allies in this line-up. Including LGBTQ+ people in a country music holiday special is a bold step toward the day when it will be as unremarkable as including the family pet (speaking of which look out for Clark’s adorable dog Betty!)

This special rounds off a wildly successful year for Clark, which we have been keenly following: nominated in two categories at the 63rd Grammy Awards: Best Country Album (Your Life is a Record) and Best Country Solo Performance (“Who You Thought I Was”), collaborating with Brandi Carlie (“Same Devil”), co-writing “A Beautiful Noise” recorded by Carlie and Alicia Keys, and recording “Only Time of Year” for HULU’s Happiest Season. 

We asked Brandy about her holiday special. “’Christmas From Here, There and Everywhere’ is a mix of some of my favorite singers and songwriters. You’ll hear new original Christmas songs as well as some timeless classics. Mostly I hope this show will make us all feel a little closer in a time when we can’t be with the ones we love”. This may not have been the festive season or the kind of year we would have wanted or planned, but wherever we are, whoever we’re with, this holiday special looks sure to help us make the best of it.

“Christmas from Here, There and Everywhere,” will debut Tuesday, December 22 at 10:00pm ET/9:00pm CT on the Opry’s Circle TV network, with subsequent broadcasts at 1:00am ET as well as Thursday, December 24 at 9:30pm ET and 12:30am ET.
