Front Country Wows With “Broken Record” Remix

By Denver-Rose Harmon, Staff Writer

Despite what the name suggests, Front Country exists outside of the confines of genre. Their newest remix and accompanying video takes them even farther beyond their original roots foundation, to a place even their staunchest fans might not have imagined: the frontiers of electronica.

The band’s mandolinist, Adam Roszkiewicz, produced this remix of “Broken Record” under his other musical moniker, ROSKIEWICZ. The visuals in the video are a collaboration between him and bandleader Melody Walker. The pair used generative graphics and layers of visual manipulation to create a psychedelic version of the original video, which features Nashville dancers in front of the Tennessee State Capitol. The effect is mesmerizing and energetic.

This remix may feel like an about-face to fans who discovered the band through their original bluegrass sound. But Front Country sees this as further expression of their version of roots music.

“Dance music can take many forms and we want to affirm that people who love traditional music can also love contemporary music” Walker says.
