Julie Nolen Pays Tribute to Everyone’s Pal in New “Hey, Bartender” Video

Austin Roots-Rocker Drums Up Support For Hard-Hit Occupation

Julie Nolen’s rippin’ full-band live version of “Hey, Bartender” is available today exclusively for Country Queer readers. She’s releasing it to draw attention to the “Tip Your Bartender” live online performance series she’s been hosting on Monday nights to raise money for bartender relief. It will be available to the public on May 1.

“I have always loved bartenders,” says Nolen. “Many a beautiful barkeep has captured my heart, and some of my best friends are bartenders, so I wrote this song as an ode to my many loves. Right now, with the bars and restaurants shut down due to stay-at-home orders, our local bartenders – friends and confidants – are all waiting on assistance, or moving on to other jobs. I offer up this video as a tribute to our beloved mixologists and as a reminder to tip the person who’s given you so many memorable nights.”

The video was recorded at the legendary Saxon Pub in Austin, Tx in August, 2019. The album version, from Nolen’s 2017 album “Songs of Dignity & Grit,” is available on Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon. She will be releasing more live videos over the course of the summer on the same channel.
